Skiing Near Boulder

The Rockies are the home to world class skiing. This time of year is Spring skiing, with bright sun and warm days. Be sure to use a high SPF sunscreen!

Ski Central provides information about many Colorado ski resorts. The closest (40 minutes away) is Eldora. The largest, Vail, where you can ski all day and never ski the same run twice, is about 2 hours away. Breckenridge is a popular destination ski area, especially for beginners. Arapahoe Basin has very challenging runs and is the last ski area to close, typically in June or July. Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Winter Park/Mary Jane, and Arapahoe Basin are all about 90-120 minutes away when the roads are dry and the weather is clear.

A pleasant way to get to the Winter Park ski area, if you are in Denver, is to take the Ski Train and avoid driving altogether. From Boulder you can get to the Eldora ski area using the RTD bus system.
